Python Efforts

Python is my language of choice. I have been mainly writing my own small programs; here are those I have released. Newest items are in bold. Most of them are available through the Vaults of Parnassus and/or Useless Python.

5/25/2006:: Microsoft Works database format parser (.wdb parser) up here now.

Apr 29 2005:: I've packaged some of the programs here with distutils, and registed them with the Python Package Index. I'll get all of them done eventually...

1/22/05:: I've finally made a change to this website. I've added two Python programs; a tiny one-liner, num2ordinal I wrote a long while ago, and shortForm, a hack to prevent the Python Shell from printing out big gobs of text.

12/12/02:: I have updated the Graphing Calculator. It should work better now.

1/16/03:: I have added a program I just wrote, Checklist Display. Check it out!

Games

• My Checkers Program 0.2 It includes a history, but no computer player and was created so I could play out checkers problems I found.

• A Game of Life Generator A simple Life generator. For infomation on Life, see Alan Hensel's Life Site
• Columns A reimplementation of a Tetris variant called Columns.

Graphics Hacks

• A Phone Number Graphing Tool A little program that will make a picture of the numbers in your phone number.
• A Python Paint Program This is the second generation of a line-drawing demo made by dave mitchell in 1998

Useful Hacks

• Microsoft Works database format parser (.wdb parser) 1.7 A semi-complete parser for Microsoft Works database and spreadsheet formats; turning them into CSV.

• Short Form 1.1 A hack to prevent the Python Shell from printing out big piles of text. Also available as shortForm.py, an un-distutils packaged version.

• Graphing Calculator 1.1 Simple, fairly powerful, Python shell based graphing calculator. Can handle any equation you can express as a Python expression. Also available as graph.py, an un-distutils packaged version.
• Checklist Display 1.0 This small program will display a given text file as a list of selectable items.

Other Hacks

• num2ordinal A one-line function to make a number into a ordinal, i.e. 94th, 20th, 21st, 342nd.
• A MidiFile Class A class that can print out the MIDI messages in a MIDI file.
• The Babble Generator The program picks random words from lists you provide. Comes with a Star Trek generator ready to go.
• Useless Python Challange-Calculator This is a calculator I wrote for Useless Python.
