Gleaning is discovering sustenance after the harvest. It is creation-oriented, resourceful and ecological. All artists are gleaners. Through the creative process artists attempt to glean, suck and intuit, the essence out of everything, actively gathering insight and information from every experience they have. While the word "gleaning" literally refers to tradition, survival, reaping and harvesting food, it also refers to a process of searching and transforming in general.

As curators Drucker and Hoffman intuitively gathered together the participants in this exhibition. While the work of each artist is different in form, it is equivalent and similar in the intensity of its search and the depth of its insight. All the work is distilled, mature and poetic. It has been gleaned and condensed over time, left with very little superfluous wrapping.

This exhibition was sponsored by the Provincia di Brescia Assessorato alla Cultura in collaboration with La Comunita' Montana di Valle Trompia, with I Comuni di Lumezzane, Tavernole, Sarezzo and the Libera Accademia di Belle Arti di Brescia.
